very comfortable. Clogs are worn at the present but they are made in factories.
Leather was made at Kanturk which is about ten miles from this district. Other boots that were worn in olden times were the Gutta-Percha. The soles of those boots were made of Gutta-Percha that is how they got their name. The soles would melt with the heat of the fire or the sun.
Long ago the people were travelling to town, they would carry their boots on their backs until they were near the town, then they would sit down and put on their boots. The people of old had great respect for their boots. Those boots were made by the hand and were called brogues.
