There was a small house on the top of "Casadh Cuinne. A young boy lived there. His mother was dead. Each night a woman would appear to him if he was out late, with a strap in her hand and she would beat him with it. He was frightened and told his story to the priest. The priest came one night to him and said some prayers and she was never seen again. The woman was his mother.
(Casadh Cúinne is at the bend of the Knocknagree-Farrankeal Road, about 100 yards to the west of Knocknagree Village)
A variant of the same story...
There was a spirit seen at Lacka Cross. She was a lady and a man had a horse and butt and he told her to sit into the car and she jumped into the car and he put his hand around her neck and she caught him by the neck and she held him until she came to Glencollins and she held him until a man came along and he made for her and she disappeared and he jumped out of the butt and he saw a light in a house and he ran and she told him she would meet him going to Kanturk and this night he met her going to Kanturk and she killed him.
