- There was a hedge-school at Meenagisagh, Gneeveguilla Co. Kerry. The teacher who taught there was Daniel Hurley. The attendance was sixty-three pupils - boys and girls. There was also a hedge-school at Park, Knocknagree in the farm of Patrick Breen. The teacher there was Timothy Cronin. Trees and planks were used as seats.
