    Station-time:- The advent of the Stations was heralded months before-hand by the repairs and improvements and renovations that went on in the dwelling-house. A room was ceiled are floored (boarded); new windows were put in perhaps: or in a few cases an attempt was made to have the new-house finished. But whatever interior improvements went on a new coat of reed was put up that year. The improvements in the dwellings in at least 80% of the cases, and improvements on these improvements can be traced to "the time we had the stations". The desire of the people to have their homes in a good condition was two-fold - firstly they could not expect the priests and Our Lord Himself to be satisfied with them if they did not endeavour to show their anxiety to make their homes fit to receive them, and secondly, they wanted to show-off a little when all their neighbours came. "This is a day to show them what we have and come what will we must put up a good show."
