The people say there is never a delicate tinker. About fifty years ago an old woman (tinker) went into a house where there was a delicate child. While she was inside the child; a boy, kept continually crying. The mother being taken up with the child gave no fair face to her visitor. When leaving the tinker woman said back to her "You must be very fond of children to be rearing that fellow". The belief here is that all delicate tinker children are neglected and die and only the healthy ones that live.
