    rags. They were commonly called ragmen. They used give hairpins, needles, thread and pins in payment for rags. There was one named "Anthony the rags". He used travel around this locality gathering rags. He built a new house in Millstreet. He died about three years ago. There are men travelling around now called "Darrares" they collect and buy feathers old feather ticks and scrap iron.
    In olden times there were gold sovereigns and half sovereigns, five shilling pieces, ten penny bits and farthings. All these coins are gone out of use nowadays. The work sometimes connected with the buying or selling was "Fowl Divide". Egg money is said to be very lucky.

  2. The kinds of Bread which was used in this district in olden times were "Stampy Bread" and "Potato Cakes".
    The woman of the house would boil the potatoes and then strained and dried them over the fire. When hot, they were let cool and then broken up as fine as flour and a little sample
