- In this parish - Kilshannig, Barony of Duhallow County Cork there are now four cemeteries - Kilgobinet or St Abby's Well cemetery, Newberry, Glantane and Beeing.
The cemetery at Kilgobinet is the most ancient in the parish. It is surrounded by ordinary stone and earthen fences and is only about a quarter of an acre in extent. There are no tombs in it and all the monuments are plain brown slabs except a few modern Celtic crosses. There are no well-defined pathways running round it or through it except a short path which leads from the entrance gate to Saint Abby's Well which is near the north eastern corner of the cemetery. Only Catholics are buried at Kilgobinet.
Newberry graveyard is also an ancient one and is used for the burial of Catholics and Protestants(continues on next page)- Collector
