If a pair were going to be married two grains of wheat would be put on the shovel and placed on the fire. If the grains jumped away from one another they would not get married and if they stayed together they would be married.
On New Year's Day the woman of the house baked a cake and struck it against the door saying that this may banish hunger for the next twelve months. This custom do not exist now.- Collector
