  1. James Loder of Ballagh who died about fifteen years ago, was noted for his great strength.
    It is recorded that he took forty stone of wheat up a ladder to the first floor in the Coolbane Mills without any trouble, although it failed two other strong men who were present at the time this feat was performed.
    Loder was 110 years of age when he died.
    During the close of the last century, there was a famous long distance runner in Freemount by the name of James Field. He was well known thought the county wherever ‘Sports’ were held.
