They are also under the impression that if the feet water is left inside, the dead people cannot enter the kitchen, and consequently they are compelled to remain outside in the cold.
There were no less than ten shoemakers in this village about forty years ago, but owing to the introduction of shop boots they dwindled away gradually, and at the present time there is no shoemaker in the place. Boots are repaired in the adjacent towns, namely, Kanturk, Newmarket, Dromcollogher and Liscarroll.
Worn boots having good uppers were taken in former times to a 'clogger,' named, Pat Dennehy, who lived in Coolbane about a mile from the village. He took off the old soles and replaced(continues on next page)- Collector
