It is believed that gold is hidden in this fort but no one has ever tried to get it. A light was often seen there and pipers were heard playing music The piper's tune used die away and seemed as if it were going down in the interior of the fort. The Knockardbane road is level. About a quarter of a mile from Liscarroll there is a big bush called William's Bush. It got this name because it was growing in William Murphy's land and because he often used sit under the bush. Not far from this a man named Singleton was hanged for robbing. The place where he was hanged is on Wigmore's Rock.
