- OLD CRAFTS: MAKING CHURNSLong ago when there were no creameries. Farmers made butter at home and sold it to butter merchants.Churns, firkins and heelers were required and were made by coopers. The latter were highly respected and earned a lot of money. There were coopers in every locality. There was great cooper named Mr. Carroll living at the foot of Ballyhoura Hills. He died a few years ago.
