- There are several forts in this district. The fort nearest to me is in Doona.
It is said that there was a battle fought, several men were killed and that they were buried in the fort.
A man by the name of John Fitzgibbon lived near it at one time. One of his workmen was digging for gravel and they found human bones.
It is also said that Cromwell felled the castle from a hill near the fort called Doona Hill. It is called the "Daisy Fort".
There is another fort in the townland of Ballyhane. It is surrounded by a circular fence made up of earth with white thorn bushes growing on it. One can get in the centre of the fort through a gap in the fence. It is supposed that there were lights seen there. Some years ago there was a light seen. It is(continues on next page)- Collector
