  1. These are Proverbs I collected in the district.
    A stitch in time saves nine is said to have been the oldest proverb.
    There is no fire place like our own.
    A good run is better than a bad stand.
    Buy a dear thing and you'll have a good thing. Buy a cheap thing and you'll have a bad thing.
    The breeding breaks out the through the eyes of the cat. A word in the court is better than a pound in your purse. Listen to the sound of the river and you'll get fish.
    A good beginning is half the battle. There is always a good deal to do round the corner. If you are wrong regret it, if you are wronged forget it. A rolling stone gathers no moss. Work is better than talk.
    The early bird catches the worm. A friend in never known till needed. You cannot count your chickens until they are hatched. After a storm comes a calm. There is as good fish in sea as ever was caught.
