- One night as a man was going to a forge to mend a plough he saw a woman sitting on a stone with a sheet over her head. He spoke kindly to which she answered "I was sent from heaven to mind the gold under this flag". She ordered him to raise the flag so he did and got a big crock of gold. She told him not to touch it by day only by night.Once he forgot to take a few pounds out of it for the fair so in the morning he went under the bed the place in which he hid the gold but alas, to his surprise all his gold was in dust. Pairc na gCeardcan was the name of the field in which the forge was and it was worked by a man named Foley the stone which he used for binding wheels is still there at present.
