- There is a Holy Well in Drinagh Wood about two miles South East of Doneraile and lots of people visit it. People suffering from sore eyes are cured there, if they bless themselves with the water.
St Cranath lived in this district. She had consecrated her life to God. A Prince fell in love with her, but she did not want to marry. So she fled to a little trunk of a tree near Doneraile, and she plucked out her eye there. A small well sprang up which is still to be seen and there is a cure in it for sore eyes.
