How the people lived long ago
The people of this district long ago lived in the plainest of food, yet there were much stronger people and healthier than the people now. And they worked much harder for smaller pay.
They lived principally on potatoes and sour milk. They ate stir-a-bout made from Indian meal, and somethimes they had fish. They planted oats and wheat and cut them down with reaping hooks.
