    As I roamed out one morning on the 29th of June.
    I rambled into an old churchyard to view a lonely tomb.
    I overheard an old man say as the tears rolled from his eyes
    'Tis underneath that cold green sod, poor Peter Crowley lies.

    Come tell me Peter Crowley, come tell me, brave and true
    Who entered into Kilclooney wood that day along with you
    Who stood behind an old oak tree and fired a signal gun.
    And said he died for Ireland's rights,
    'Tis you my darling son.

    And that same hand that carried this gun
