   It is said there was gold hidden by Sir Thomas Phelan of Glasgow, Scotland, in the Corrin Hill, about one and a half miles from Fermoy. Many attempts have been made to roof it, but so far no one has been successful. One man who made an attempt was Jack Noonan, Cashel, Co. Tipperary. He dug the ground twenty-five feet, three inches deep. Another man by the name of Tom Blake, Mallow, Co. Cork, dug it twenty feet, five inches deep.
