- Ned Colbert was crossing the fields one morning at six oclock. There was a small kiln in the field. As he was crossing the field he heard tap-tap. It was a leipreachán making shoes. He was so busy at his work that he didn't mind Ned. So Ned stretched down his hand and caught him. "Give me your crock of gold before I'll let you go" said Ned.
The leipreachán said that he never saw gold.
"You know well what I mean" says Ned
"Ee-ee-ea" says the leipreachán "look behind you: the big fairies are coming and they will kill you".
"If I took my eyes off you you would go away" says Ned.
"Eee-ee-ee-ee! look quick, they are nearly on top of you" said the leipreachán with a screech.
Ned got such a fright at the screech that he looked over his shoulder(continues on next page)- Collector
