    to frighten them. When the boys and girls here are going home from school the boys have a rope which they try to get around the girls and they call this 'Skelliging'.
    Hallow E'en
    On Hallow E'en or November night people ask their friends to supper they generally eat barm brack in which is a ring, a stick, a bean, a pea and a rag.
    The ring is for marriage, the stick is to beat your husband, the pea is for poverty, the bean is for plenty, the rag is for an old maid or a bachelor.
    Lead is put on shovel and melted on a fire it goes into all funny shapes and people try to make out who they are going to marry from these shape. It sometimes comes out like nails or a hammer they say they are going to marry a carpenter or if it comes out in the shape of a horse they say you are going to marry a jockey or a huntsman
