    On Hallow E'en or November night people ask their friends to supper they generally eat barm brack in which is a ring, a stick, a bean, a pea and a rag.
    The ring is for marriage, the stick is to beat your husband, the pea is for poverty, the bean is for plenty, the rag is for an old maid or a bachelor.
    Lead is put on shovel and melted on a fire it goes into all funny shapes and people try to make out who they are going to marry from these shape. It sometimes comes out like nails or a hammer they say they are going to marry a carpenter or if it comes out in the shape of a horse they say you are going to marry a jockey or a huntsman
