- (continued from previous page)The people of this area however objected to Duggan's burial in consecrated ground and "They rooted him up by night, carried him back and placed the coffin standing against his own door.
In the morning, when his own people opened the door, the coffin fell in to them".
It seems that, "Duggan was again buried in the same grave and guards placed over the body. The guards were frightened away and the body rooted up again and carried home and placed outside his own door.
After this he was buried in an outhouse".
- Denis Lane, the author of Carrigdhown is buried in Matehy graveyard, three miles from here.
This is the old graveyard which moved by night from Gorth to Matehy. Traces of the old graveyard in Gorth still remain visible. There are no headstones there. - Informant
