- On the road between Passage and Cork there is an old mansion called Ronayne's Court.
Here it was that Maurice Ronayne and his wife Margaret Gould lived. They had but one son, who was called after King Philip of Spain.
He was very clever at school and was very quick to learn.
One morning when he was seven years old he was missing; servants were sent on horse back and on foot to look for him, but they returned without any tidings of the boy.
Years rolled away without Mr. and Mrs. Ronayne having obtained any account of their lost child.
