  2. In Carrigaline the earth at each side of the bridge in the middle of the village is different. At the Kinsale side it is brown stone and at the Cork side it is lime stone. From the lime stone lime is made.
    Long ago there were a great number of lime kilns in Carrigaline, but the remains are only now to be seen.
    One was situated on the farm land of Mr Johnson; there was a big chimney on the top through which the lime stone were put in and a fire was lighted
