  1. Long ago, a man named Mr Sisk lived about a hundred yards from Moll Grand's Cross. One about eight o'clock he went up as far as the cross, for a walk. When he went to the cross he saw a big dog with two eyes of fire and a long chain from his neck. The dog barked and made an attempt to bite him but he could not catch him because of the chain. The man got a fright went down home and died two days after.
