  1. There once was a man living in East Ferry named Paddy Mc Carthy. When coming to Farside he used cross the Mine Bridge and through the Demesne. One summer's evening as he was coming through, it was just dusk and he was riding on a bicycle. As he was coming through the Alder grove the lamp of his bicycle was quenched, and he was put astray, he tried ind vain to find his way, he had to remain there till day break, then he went home and he never ventured through Rostellan since.
