Another account of this place where the gold is supposed to be hidden is that it was once visited by a notorious pirate who determined to bury his gold in the "Cearnach"[?] that is the name of the field it is supposed to be in. He considered it a safe place by reason of its reputation as it was supposed to be haunted. Having made up his plunder in three firkins he buried them deep and then slew one of his black slaves to guard the booty and erected a crude headstone
