    Long ago if a person got a cut the first thing he did was to rub a grey plant called the bloodweed to it. Years ago a man named Patrick Quirk who lived near Churchtown chapel could cure widlfire by cutting his finger and letting a drop of blood fall on it. The blood from a black cat's tail could cure ringworm. If a person who never saw his mother blew his breath into the mouth of a child who had thrush it was instantly cured. If a person had a sore on any part of his body he put leeches up to it to suck up the congealed blood.
