   Saint Patrick. When Saint Patrick was in Clare, he banished a serpent into the Shannon, in a place called Colun Hill. Where the serpent passed on his way to the Shannon, there's a track, and nothing ever grows on it. When the serpent was in the sea St. Patrick only gave him a fish and a half for food, but he promised to free him on Monday. When he said Monday, he meant the last day, but the serpent thought he meant the next Monday. Every Monday since the serpent says, "Is fada an Luain e". Eoin Curran got these stories from Miss Kate Madigan, Shanagolden.
