    side lifted about half a foot from it. Three small sticks are used to keep the cage in this position, a forked one (called a gallóg), an L-shaped one, and a curved twig, and they are arranged in such a way that they form a kind of trap. Both ends of the curved twig are stuck in the ground underneath the cage so that it forms a little. The other two are attached to this and to the lifted edge of the cage in such a way that when the little arched twig is moved the trap is released and down falls the bird-cradle, imprisoning the bird within it. There is also som breadcrumbs or meal placed around and underneath the arched twig so as to coax the bird into the cage & to tempt it to stand on the twig.
    During the summer months I play marbles and spins tops. At least two boys are required for the former game and each must have a marble. It is played on a road, where three shallow holes are made in a straight line, with about three feet between each pair. Play starts from
