- (continued from previous page)English. John Enright was a dancing Master and James O'Mahoney was a thatcher. They began composing poems when they were about twenty years of age. They were able to read and write. It is supposed that John Enright had great power. It is said that he could banish rats from a house. To banish the rats he played on the back pipes and said some words in the meantime. After three hours not a rat could be found in the district. Their songs are sung locally.
