- We keep a St brigid's cross over the doors and windows of our house.
Cross ois 3 by 3 ins. Foundation 2 sallows on which straw is woven.
We put new ones on, every St Brigid's day and hang out the old ones in the out-houses to prevent evil spirits.
My grandmother Mrs M. Kelly - living about ninety years, told me her mother used to do the same.People take a little wisp of straw from the crib in our chapel at Christmas. It is used then for sores or pains.- Collector
