    Lore of Marriages.
    Long ago there were many more marriages than there are now and many customs were observed. The following are some of them.
    Marriages principally took place during Shrove and during the months of June and November. The days thought unlucky for marriage are Mondays, Thursdays and Fridays and the months are May, July and August.
    One local custom was that it was lucky to throw a bag of rice at the
