   for rheumatism. Pitch is used to cure sciatica. It is heated and put up as a poultice to the affected part. People pay rounds at St. Molua's well on the 3rd August, to cure whatever disease they have. If you saw a man with a white horse and asked him what would cure the whooping cough, and then did whatever that man told you. It was supposed to cure the whooping cough. The cobweb was used to heal a wound. It was put to the wound and left on it until it fell off. The seventh daughter can foretell things to come. If you put a frog in your mouth, it would cure toothache. If you rubbed your fasting spit to your eye, it would cure a sty. To look through a gold ring three mornings is another cure for a sty.

   In former times people had to seek remedy for their ailments by the following cures.

   Yarrow was used for sciatica. Boil the leaves in a small quantity of water. When boiled, strain the leaves off and drink the juice.
