  1. The Banshee.
There was a wake once in Ardagh, and there was a big crowd of people at the wake. There were people going and coming from the wake all night.
About 12 O'Clock, one man said he was going home. The men said to him to mind himself of the Banshee, and the man said there was no such a thing as a Banshee. Then the man stayed a few hours later. As he was going home he was passing an old ruin.
He saw light inside. The man went inside. As he was entering the door, he was caught, and beaten home. He could see no one. He went to bed and died a week later.
    Thomas Sexton.
