  1. St Ita is the patroness of this portion of the County Limerick. She had an abbey and monastery built in Kileedy. The place is about five miles from this school. The meaning of " Kileedy " means the " Church of Ita ". Besides having a monastery and school she also had a dairy. She had a little donkey and he used to take the milk from the dairy to the monastery. He was so used to do this, that after a while he used to go alone.
