  1. Long ago the English soldiers were going to Valencia Island for training. They were stationed at Limerick City. The night before they started, one of the soldiers had a dream. It appeared to him that they were going to stop in a small town for refreshments, and overlooking the town he saw this hill, and on top of that hill a spot appeared to him where there was a crock of gold buried, and arriving at Abbeyfeale he saw it was the town and also the hill appeared plain to him to be the spot. He went to the officer in charge and related his dream to him. The officer said "we will investigate it to-morrow". Next day they walked up to Mullac Suidhe Fionn where
