- (continued from previous page)On may eve holy water is thrown on the stock, crops, fields, out offices, wells and other places to prevent "piseogs" being worked for on that night principally some people visit wells and the land of their neighbours and work "piseogs" on the people. On Shrove Tuesday night people make pancakes and eat them. Many people also get married on that day. On St.Johns night bonfires are lit to welcome the summer and long ago the people used to dance around them. On the feast of the assumption special rounds are paid at the holy wells to the blessed virgin and it is called "Pattern day". The(continues on next page)
