- The local patron saint is St. Ita. The ruins of her churches are still to be seen in Kilmeedy and Kileedy. When she was building her church in Kileedy some men threw stones at her. They felled her ass who was drawing stones from Tournafulla quarry. The print of the donkey's legs and body are still to be seen. When some stones from the church were taken some years ago to repair a gullet they had to be taken back as they would not stay in the position they were put in. There are many people called after her. The saint's feast-day occurs on the 15 th January and High Mass is(continues on next page)
