- Some years ago when Rusheen Mills were in working order they were infested with rats. Each day several traps were set and usually filled in an extraordinarily short time. One day a rat was caught by the leg. In order to escape the rat bit off his lef and succeeded to gain his liberty. When roaming about the mill the stump of the rats leg stuck in a wooden pin, something like a clothes-pin. The rat tried all in his power to free his leg but failed. He was heard each night for years tramping the lofts. He was finally killed.
