  1. (continued from previous page)
    Had I known that my darling would leave me
    How fondly I'd cling to his breast,
    And ask him of life to bereave me
    That sorrow in death might find rest,
    But should he return again,
    How impatiently I'd watch the glad hour,
    And burst echoes lungs with love streams
    By the Binnlisheen Aerach an Bhrogha.
    V
    Away ye false phantoms of bliss,
    My loved one will ne'er more come;
    I shall never inhale his fond kiss
    Until sorrow finds rest in the tomb
    So saying she rushed through the trees
    Disappeared from my my sight and I vow
    That I never more say the mild maid
    Of the Binnlisheen Aerach an Bhrogha.
