    There was once a highway robber who used to frequent the road near Kilmacow which is situated about a mile south east of Kilfinny school. The police were trying to capture him, but he escaped to England. There however, he was caught and he was sentenced to death in London. Before being hanged he asked if there was anyone there from Kilmacow, Co. Limerick. But he got no reply. His executioner asked him if he had anything to say. So. he said in Irish, "Geara an leanain tr'n togaint boitan'.
