    story - The Collegiand. Scanlan who got her murdered was the cousin to the Scanlans of Ballynochane at that time at the north side of Knockfierna and he was in hiding in Ballynochane for some time. It is said that Andrew Mc Grath one of the Maigue poets lived and taught a hedge school for some time near the foot of Knockfierna at the north east side.
