It is a custom in this district to tie old boots to the car of the bride and bridegroom when they would be going to the chapel to get married. Rice is thrown after the car of the bridegroom when they would be leaving the chapel after getting married. it is also a custom that the bride wouldn't go to her old home for a month after getting married because it is considered unlucky. It is also a custom that the married couple wouldn't go home from the chapel the same road as they came because it is also considered unlucky. The strawboys also come to the house of the married couple to dance and sing. The strawboys wear straw hats and some straw in their stockings. The captain of the strawboys would dance with the bride. The strawboys were very welcomed long ago and when they would be going away they would get money and drink.
