    Mr. N_____ as has already been intimated, it is double ringed. The walls or circumvallations are low, merely small single "ditches". (The word ditches in this district has its generally accepted significance viz. banks) upon which grow remarkably fine old whitethorns, with forked trunks rising, naked of minor growth, to a height of perhaps twelve feet before they begin to branch out in a cap-like superstructure.
    My friend Mr. Corkery, in his capacity of coal distributor to a rural people has often opportunities provided him in interviewing the man on the "spot". He and I had been to the fort twice. Immediately after our second visit and interview with Mr. O'Brien, the serving man of Mr. N._____ on whose lands the fort is, came to Mr. Corkery on his master's errand.
