  2. Three meals was the usual in olden times, breakfast, dinner and supper. Breakfast was usually about eight, dinner at three, and supper at night. A lot of work was done before breakfast beginning usually at dawn, and often a ridge of potatoes was dug or half a quarter of hay cut, and or the cows milked before breakfast. This custom is still carried on to a lesser extent. Breakfast was usually of potatoes and milk
