    the additional tribute from his kinsman the Munster ruler. Fiacha was not unwilling to increase his contribution but the manner in which the demand was made so incensed the king and some bands of the Munster Fianna that he repudiated the demand for additional tribute which his ancestors never paid and told the messenger to inform Cormac that he was not disposed to harrass his subjects and cheiftains to add further grandeur to the royal display at Tara. Cormac's financial worries were already leaning heavily on his royal mind, but the peremptory refusal from a subject king infuriated him so much that the fighters of Meath, Ulster and Connaught were immediately put marching with Cormac at their head to chastise this disobedient subject and plunder his territory.
