   A Bansha Peeler out one night,
   On duty and patrolling O:
   He met a goat upon the road
   And charged him up with strolling, O;
   With bayonet fixed and courage high,
   He seized him by the wizzen, O,
   And thundered out a mighty oath,
   He'd send him off to prison, O.

   The Goat

   Oh, mercy, Sir, the goat replied,
   And let me tell my story, O;
   I am no rogue nor ribbon man,
   I am no whig nor Tory, O:
   I'm guilty not of any crime,
   Nor petty nor high treason, O,
   My trade all peelers know right well,
   And this is the ranting season, O.

   In vain you plead you hoary knave,
   And give your tongue such freedom, O:
   Your absent from your dwelling place,
   Disorderly and rowdy, O.
