    One time an old soldier came home saying "left, right" until he met an old witch.

    "But what am I to go down the tree for"? said the soldier "For money" said the witch. "When you go down you will see three hundred lamps burning there. Then you will see three doors which you can easily open. When you open the first door you will see a dog with eyes as big as a cup but don't be afraid of him. I will lend you my old apron and spread it on the floor and then walk up to the dog and catch him and set him down on it. When that is done walk up to the chest and take as much coppers as you like for that chest only contains coppers. If you care for silver you may go into the next room and you will see a dog with eyes as small as
